Bill's Ace Hardware 60th Anniversary

Bill's Ace Hardware Serving Our Community

When we say Bill's Ace Hardware has served the community for 60 years (almost), we say it proudly. We have employed thousands of local people over the years, from kids looking for their first job, to retired folks looking to supplement their incomes and share their knowledge.

Bill's Ace Hardware supports a wide range of community events every year. We receive an average of 365 donation requests every year and usually fill all 365 in one way or another.

In addition to monetary donations we encourage our employees to get involved in charitable projects and often supplement their income to encourage this participation.

Some examples of how we serve our community are noted below. If you attend any of the local Crab Feeds during the season you will probably enjoy Bill's Ace Hardware bottled water as our contribution to the many fundraising events.

Extreme Makeover

Extreme Makeover in Martinez, California In February of 2004, Jhyrve was diagnosed with Krabbe Disease, a rare genetic disorder caused by an enzyme deficiency. In March of 2004, Jhyrve moved with her mother, Karen, to North Carolina for treatment.

She received a successful cord blood transplant at Duke University, but her doctors would not allow her to return to her home in Martinez because the mold and allergens existent in her home could be a huge danger to her weakened immune system.

Hearing of the family’s unique situation, the production staff at “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” partnered with a score of local volunteers to demolish and rebuild the Sears family’s 1200-square foot home.

Bay Area Crisis Nursery in Concord

The purpose of the Nursery is to prevent abuse and neglect of young children by providing support to families who are in stress or crisis. Child abuse ordinarily happens during such times. We operate on the belief that parents don't want to hurt their children.

Mateo's Dream in Concord

Mateo's Dream in Concord, California Concord is home to one of the few playgrounds in the nation where children who cannot walk, see or hear can play safely alongside children who can. This unique facility is even more special in that it was constructed and largely funded by community volunteers.

Matteo’s Dream - A Playground for Children of All Abilities opened to the public on May 16, 2007. Located in Hillcrest Park at 2050 Olivera Rd., the playground project was spearheaded by Concord resident Liz Lamach whose son, Matteo, uses a wheelchair and is blind.

Lamach brought people together in the community to make Matteo’s Dream of an accessible playground a reality.

College Park High School
